July 11th - 13th I participated in the 48 Hour Film Project (Seattle) for the second year. Had a blast again, in fact more fun this time since I was more involved a had a better idea what was going on.
The idea is that on Friday night you get a genre, character name, that character's occupation, a prop, and a line of dialog. From those you have 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, mix, and hand in a film no longer than 7 minutes (not including credits) that includes all of those elements. Everything has to be done during those 48 hours.
We drew Holiday Film, which wasn't great but part of the fun is dealing with what you are given and seeing what you can do with it. Our resulting film was a lot better than last year's, and we had a great time doing it. Everyone involved is already thinking about ways to make the next one better, and we're talking about entering more of these for experience and fun.
The next one looks like http://www.filmchallenge.org/. It is a lot of fun, and I know our team is always looking for more people who want to try it out.
