My darling wife has given me a couple of amazing gifts, one for Christmas and one for my upcoming birthday... she tipped her hand on the latter early, but that's fine by me.
The first is an incredible chance to see Holly Cole, one of my favorite singers, in Seattle for a change. She's Canadian and for many years now has not been touring in the U.S. at all, we've made trips to Vancouver and Victoria, B.C. a few times (once to Kelowna) to see her. Always worth it, but it'll be wonderful to have her in town this time.
Even better she's at my favorite local venue, Jazz Alley. It is a wonderful, intimate space and you have dinner at the same time... I can hardly wait. Here is information about the gig. She always puts on a great show, and at the Jazz Alley it should be stunning. That's on March 3rd.
The second gift is another chance to see another of my favorite Canadian (and otherwise) singers, kd lang. She's also going to be in Seattle, and also in March. She'll be at the Moore Theater, while not as outstanding as Jazz Alley it is one of the nicest Seattle venues. Info on the gig is here. That one is on March 19th. It wasn't so long ago that I saw her live for the first time, and her voice knocked me on my ass (even through the pouring rain).
Can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait.
