Tonight we went to the SIFF showings of Cashback and Fido (warning, Cashback the movie and the website both have nudity, so if you're offended by that you both should not go to them and also don't bathe, because you'll probably be naked then).
Both were very fun movies. Cashback is an English film about an art student who breaks up with his girlfriend and goes on an insomnia bender, during which he gains the ability to stop time. Once section of the movie is very slow, but in a way it reenforces the point it is trying to make and acts as a very nice counterpoint to the rest of it, which tends towards laugh out loud funny.
Fido is a Canadian film about a world where the dead have risen in the form of zombies, but humanity has gotten them under control and now uses them as (very dumb) labor. It is cast in a Leave It To Beaver type idyllic town, and it funnier than I can possibly describe. Very well done, you won't regret seeing it. Unless you hate the living. You... don't hate the living, do you?!
Both are worth it just for the humor value, but offer a lot more than just that.
