A couple days ago we deployed our "server farm" to colocation, meaning they're sitting in racks connected to enough power that's backed up properly and have one of the really big
tubes connecting those machines to the intraweb.
A big day for our company, we're still not ready to go public and in the meantime I've managed to make them not quite server web content properly, but we'll get all that sorted out in short order. I cannot wait to launch and get real user feedback, it will be a blast. I'm really excited about what we're doing, I think a lot of people will love it.
The guys and gals at
NetRiver, where we are colocating the servers, were really great to us. One of their guys (Chris I think?) went above and beyond and basically was with us for most of the four hours it took to get all our machines, our switch, and our KVM installed in the rack, wired up, and powered on and tested. I expected to walk away with a semi-working set of computers and a list of equipment to buy and issues to solve, but instead everything was up and running and the only thing we need to buy is a cord arm for one of the servers.
I drove away smiling my face off. Picture that, I dare you.
