This morning I went to see the doctor for the first visit after surgery, usually this is done a week or so after but due to travel and holidays that wasn't possible. Everything looks like it is going well, the joint is less flexible than many people at this stage but that's consistent with what happened last time for me, too.
I'm now scheduled for physical therapy (same therapist as last year), have less potent painkillers, and the okay to start weaning myself off crutches and out of The Boot and try to get more mobility. Great news since it will make things much easier when I get back to work. Crutches suck.
I mentioned the numbness on the top of my foot that I've had since the surgery, and he tapped part of my leg which caused that area (and the whole area that had been numb) to twinge. His theory is that some scar tissue has developed around a nerve and it should work itself out, which seems consistent with what has been happening. Hopefully over the next week or two the last remaining numbness will go away.
